Show Notes

We have another special visit (third time lucky) by Brad Fuller to our office. We welcome him once again as he imparts some wisdom and knowledge to our listeners on the topic of 'how and when to engage an SDA Provider for SDA Apartments'.

Over the years, there has been so much emphasis on houses in the NDIS market, that we often forget about the other types of properties being developed and built for Participants. Remember, Participants reserve the right to 'Choice and Control' in how they live their lives, where and who they live with. Considering that 50% of all SDAs being built across Australia are in fact apartments, perhaps it is time for us to give recognition to this asset class, the SDA Apartment.

Looking back, it took 20 years or so, for Australians to embrace the strata living lifestyle of apartments as the new trend across Aussie cities.  Thus, we should also be considerate and open minded to an emerging trend that many Participants are also keen on living vertically in brand new low, medium & high rise apartments. Why, one may ask? Well it's pretty obvious isn't it - it offers security, privacy and safety - factors which may not be available living in a group home with other participants.

You will know by now, over the past 2 years and 200 episodes on our podcast show, that we often talk about apartments, and we don't discriminate when it comes to any SDA products - houses, villas or units. So here today, we open the discussion with Brad who also has many decades of experience also in the apartment property market.

It's time to talk about how investors who invest in SDA can provide a home to Participants, by working with SIL & SDA Providers, who are also open to the apartment product. This is the purpose of this podcast, to bring awareness to Participants, Providers, & Investors.

It is our goal to see Participants with high-needs disabilities being appropriately housed in accommodation that is right for them. Purpose built homes promote opportunities for social and economic participation, enhance self-determination, and create conditions for Participants to lead vibrant, safe, and independent lives.
