In this episode, Jeremy Soden from Forward Access joins Debbie in the office to discuss everything Access Consulting.

Jeremy discusses his journey from building certifier into access consulting and his focus on Specialist Disability Acccommodation having worked in London in residential aged care and disability accommodation before returning to Australia and deciding to focus on accessibility in building standards.

The conversation begins with the NCC livable housing standards that are being adopted in most states of Australia over the coming year or two and the implications for builders and purchasers.

Jeremy then explains in detail the SDA Assessment process from initial planning/design stages to final SDA certification phase.

Best practice in SDA designs vs minimum standards and how important it is to future-proof the property by building well above minimum standards along with common mistakes made in SDA design and building are covered.
