Show Notes
EPISODE:
Group Homes is a topic we have not spoken about thus far, but in this episode, we delve into it, courtesy of a report issued by the Housing Hub.
Minh and Debbie sit down with our new team member, Joshua, to introduce him to our listeners, and discuss a recently published report from Housing Hub (linked below). In the report, they discuss Group Homes and why there is a big push to phase these out. This will obviously create an increase in demand for SDA homes as participants currently in group homes are or will be searching for alternatives, making it an important topic for our listeners to know about.
The main crux of this research report by Housing Hub, is that the Group Home dwelling, a legacy of the system prior to the NDIS, still has a place in the community, so long as it is 'done right'. The team discuss some of the points raised by the workshop findings. It would be great if more Care Providers could implement such advice in this report to improve their service delivery of care to their participants in Group Homes currently in the community all around Australia.
We thank the hard work of the Summer Foundation / Housing Hub for being one of the biggest advocates NDIS sector, we say to them "Keep up the good work!"
