Show Notes

EPISODE:
Debbie, our Marketing Manager, currently travelling through North America, now returns to the NDIS PROPERTY AUSTRALIA podcast with Eryn in the office to discuss problems of young disabled people in aged care (YPIRAC) and how the long approval process for NDIS funding is leading to hundreds of young people entering aged care rather than actual SDA dwellings.

Some of the topics being covered in an article are being discussed by Debbie and Eryn, circle around the following YPIRAC goals as follows:

1. No people under 65 entering Residential Aged Care by 2022

2. No people under 45 living in Residential Aged Care by 2022

3. No people under 65 living in Residential Aged Care by 2025

The NDIA needs to match the efficiency of the aged care system and fund younger people at risk of entering RAC with housing and support within 10 days.

The Down to 10 days campaign is a coalition of over 130 health, housing and disability organizations calling on the new federal government to commit to funding housing and support for NDIS participants when it’s needed. The bureaucratic delays in the NDIA require addressing: preventing new admissions of young people to RAC is a key reason why.
